Michael Loy and Buick, circa 1914

This is apparently a 1911 Buick, with Michael Loy on the running board. This picture offers an opportunity to identify some of the "unknowns" from the Michael Loy extended family picture, since everyone in the Buick picture was also in the extended family picture--indeed they may have been taken the same day. The second lady from the left and the first man from the left are Abby (Loy) and George Armstrong. The other two men are two of the unidentified men in the extended family photo. The woman to the far left was not identified by Phyllis, but I think it is the same woman she identified as "Mary Loy" her uncle Russ's wife, in the extended family picture. I have asked Phyllis how confident she is of this identification,on the basis of (a) Russ looks relatively young--he would have been at most in his early 20s at the time of the extended family photo--and I wondered whether he would in fact have been married at this time (b) Russ is neither proximate to Mary in the extended family picture, nor even present in the Buick picture, and (c) Michael himself had a daughter named Mary (who married Solomon Hart) and I wondered if this could be that Mary instead (although Michael's Mary would have been older than this "Mary" appears to be). If this "Mary" is Russ's wife, then it may be that the two unidentified men are related to her. Phyllis did not identify the location of this picture. My Uncle Leon thought the house to the rear of the Buick looked like one he was familiar with, although I did not write down whose house it may have been--either Michael's or Conrad Madison's as I recall. Note also the "ghosts" just to the right of the Buick in this picture--a man standing behind the fence with a dark hat and, to his right (our left) someone in a white shirt and white pants or skirt with arms on the waist--this figure blends into the whitewashed house in the background.
